Every "Body" is Beautiful
I often have discussions that relates to body image and how we perceive ourselves. I think everyone has some insecurities about their body. It’s totally normal to feel this way, for both men and women. I wanted to write about this because I think it's important to learn how to be happy in your skin and that you can still love your body, even though you're working on improving it.
The struggle is real
Believe me – the struggle can be real when it comes to loving your body. We all have similar struggles when it comes to learning how to embrace it. Honestly, I was never 100% comfortable with my body growing up (and I still struggle from time to time). Even at a young age, I'd compare myself to other girls. I think this is a natural thing to do when we are growing up – we are just trying to “fit in” and feel accepted by your peers (which is also a very common/normal thing to do).
As you age, you learn that everyone is different – and this is why the world is such a beautiful place. Every single person has something special and different to bring to the table. Seriously... no one is the same. We all look, talk, feel, and move, differently. It may seem silly, but realizing this helped me appreciate my own self. I stopped comparing myself to others – because why would I?
(No one is you and that's YOUR power.)
Your body is your temple
Your body can do amazing things. It’s important you take good care of it. But before you do, you need to love it. It isn’t selfish to put yourself first. When it comes to your body and your health – there is nothing more important. In order to take care of yourself, you need to find what makes you happy. Whatever isn’t good for you – let it go.
Stress can have major repercussions on your body. It’s important to find the right balance and do what works for you. Everyone is different and manages stress differently. Listening to your body is the best advice I could ever give you.
Try to focus on what your body needs the most. Ask yourself, did you move today? What did you eat? How did you sleep? And go from there. This is exactly what I do!
I literally just give my body whatever it needs. If I’m hungry – I eat. If I’m tired – I sleep. If I can’t sleep – I move to burn some energy. If you do this…. at the end of the day, your body will thank you. All you have to do is listen to it!!!
“You do you, booboo”
If you know me well enough, you’ve heard me say this one. Being different is what makes you special. Honestly, the less you care about what people think – the better you will feel. Everyone has different taste. You shouldn't need approval for everything you do in life. If you like that dress, or those shoes – then you should wear them!!! If you feel good wearing them, why would you need approval from anyone?
(PS. Buy the damn shoes)
Take care of your body because you love it, not because you hate it
Hating your body won’t get you anywhere. Stop overthinking. Make small and achievable adjustments to your routine and the results will come. Don’t rush anything and make sure you are doing it because you LOVE YOURSELF.
I hope this blog gave you the pep talk you needed.
(Just so you know…. I still give myself this pep talk sometimes).
